I thought I would just add a thread for any Replay show suggestions: either,

- Games for the monthly nominations
- Ideas for special themed editions (An 8-Bit one is coming very soon)
- Improvement suggestions

Strident suggested having an Xbox Originals episode one month?

Xbox originals sounds good and cheap. Theres a long list of platforms that deserve a good look, the PS1/2 have a huge back catalogue that most of us, I imagine, will all still be able play.

Given the recent furory over GTAIV a restrospective look at Vice City or San Andreas would also be intresting.

Or how about looking at titles like FIFA / Tiger /Madden 99 and comparing them to their modern day counterparts?

@Silverfin good suggestions. We have a "replay debate" section each month that those could fit into.

Depending on how well our 8bit special goes down, I would love to to do a 16bit one in the early autumn with yourself. Ratso has said he'd be interested again too.

@Dits I like that as well. I'll put my thinking cap on, but one way to approach it would be to have a genre discussion that matches the game of the month. e.g. If GTA IV was the game of the month, we could have Open World/Sandbox as a discussion topic.

A game series show would be cool, such as shows dedicated to Final Fantasy or Mario games. There would be a lot of topics you could choose from.

Did you hear the Big Red Potion Mario episode? That was almost like a Replay special. :)

It was, but that was a virtual fight of the best Mario, whereas the 8-bit show (not yet broadcast, sorry) was a love-in lol.

I would love to take part in something like that. Those were the games I grew up with :)

Taking Dits suggestion on a bit further A Star Wars replay special! There have been some great, and a lot of not so great games in the star wars, universe across all eras.

Another thought was a coin-op special. Conversions are a bit of a lost genre these days. With so many coin-op games of the past Outrun, SFII, Double Dragon, TMNT etc now showing up on PSN or XBLA a retrospective on these would be good.

The ubersad :geek: fan in me would also be intrested in looking at the lost adventure game genre. (Strident, one for you as well i think)

I too would really enjoy that. I bought KotOR twice, once on PC and once on Xbox, I still own both and have never actually played beyond an hour into it. Shocking I know.

The other recommendation I would have would be a classic Playstation replay, many people have Playstation 3's and all are capable of playing Playstation 1 games that are classics such as Fade to Black, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Kula World, Parasite Eve, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: SotN etc... and almost all of those can be had cheap on eBay.

Something like Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid are quite predictable though (not that I'd be against them), but something like Fade to Black or Castlevania: SotN (which is also accessible through Xbox Live Marketplace) would be quite a nice one to do.

Or, go for KOTOR so I can finally have reason to play through it :p.

I've actually already played KOTOR twice (once "good", once "evil). I have so many fond memories of it, and was so disappointed by how Mass Effect stacked up against it, that it would certainly be interesting to revisit it.

That being said... maybe KOTOR will come up natural in a Replay debate when it becomes Mass Effect's turn for the Replay treatment.

Haven't played KOTOR, but Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was a solid game. It was basically an FPS with lots of good and dark Force Powers, a bit of platforming and of course, lightsaber combat. Out on Xbox, PC and Mac in about 2003.

I like the KOTOR idea

how about a 16-bit final fantasy focused session?

I think there will always be room for special TGS shows, whether they be under the Replay umbrella or completely separate, should there be enough interest. All it would take would be enough willing participants who would be prepared to give up a couple of hours of their time to record. We're always on the lookout for new people to come on the show. So if you fancy being a guest on one of the Replay casts (or another recording) then definitely get in touch with Xan, Dits or Fly.

As mentioned on the recent Replay podcast: here is the schedule for the rest of the year, with a special 16-bit edition in the height of silly season - it wouldn't be fair to ask people to play old games when there are so many new ones!

Recording/Published (all dates/time subject to change):
Sunday 27th September @ 1500: Sept's Game of the Month [COD3}Darkness|Halo3|MOHA]
Sunday 25th October @ 1500: 16-Bit Special (* see below)
Sunday 29th November @ 1500: Nov Game of the Month
Sunday 27th December @ 1500: Dec Game of the Month

(*) 16-Bit special will follow the same format as the 8-Bit show. Guests will be asked to select 3 games that from that era (1986-1995): including platforms such as the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Super Nintendo, and Sega Megadrive/Genesis.

The catch is that any game chosen must be playable on the current generation of hardware (360/PS3/PC/Wii/PSP/DS): either through legal emulation (incl. Wii Virtual Console), or on a compilation disk.

If you would like to take part you can PM me with your 3 games plus links to the how to buy/play them.

I'll announce further details in the next Replay show.

OK, quite possibly firstpost and two suggestions which are both selected as they are different takes on franchises.

First up is Metal Gear Ac!d 2. Really enjoyed this title myself, came from a board/tabletop/Collectable Card Game background myself.

Next is R-Type Tactics (or R-Type Command if you're a Yank). Playing through this game at the moment, loving it. A sequel is coming out soon and am a fan of the R-Type series anyway.

To tie in with the Xbox originals idea and the impending release of Heavy Rain, It might be interesting to take a fresh look at Fahrenheit.

Well, it's on Xbox Originals (apparently) so it's a potential nomination. I'd just be a little worried about the participation levels, seeing as our last original Xbox game didn't really get played that much.
