Lazy maybe, stubborn quite possibly, but after spending millions on development where's the incentive to take staff off new projects and spend more money in patching a game with no perceived benefit (other than appeasing the stubborn trophy chasers ;-) )

There were dozens of other games that were backwards patched for trophies Benjo. Dozens. And they were not even close to being the same stature of MGS 4 in the PS3's catalogue. No, I'm afraid the "it was to late" excuse simply does not cut it, if anything it was just plain laziness on the part of developer relying on the brand name to shift units and sticking the middle finger up to Sony's fledgling reward scheme.

Trophyless games are dead to me. :D

Dozens of games? name a dozen!

"just plain laziness" - laziness.... from Metal Gear... laziness. The franchise is proliferate with a massive over-abundance of extra features. From the hours and hours of codec conversations between snake and Para-medic in MGS3 to the amazing diary entries in Peace Walker and the inclusion of 3 disks one of which including the first 2 Metal Gear Games, VR missions, full online portion and a disc with the whole of MGS3 condensed into cut-scenes only. Kojima-san ALWAYS gives the fans a HUGE amount of materials.

After playing the game I felt I had been given my money's worth 10 fold and moaning about trophies really is pointless. Trophies are fun and all but MGS4 CERTAINLY doesnt need them, at all.

Trophies are the bane of this generation, I am happy MGS4 didn't have them

In your opinion. In mine, and many others I might add, it suffers from NOT having trophy support. It's laziness and nothing more.

The game was sitting in bargain bins across the country weeks after release and that was for a good reason. It genuinley wasn't very good. It wasn't terrible, but it just wasn't very good.

Now I honestly don't give two monkeys about what other peoples opinions are on the game. I have consigned it to the history books as average and that's where it will remain. I am entitled to my opinion, there it is and I'm not asking anyone to agree with it.

Really enjoyed the MGS4 Replay podcast, guys. I'm still not convinced I ever need to play the game but the chat was very interesting.

Well done to The_Tenia on his debut... another bloke with a good, clear voice for podcasting!

Sorry about the 40 second blackout. This is the UGN jingle...or at least it was! My fault. Clumsy editing.

If it spoils anyones enjoyment I am happy to upload a fixed version.

The dead air doesn't have any detrimental impact on one's enjoyment of the show, so I wouldn't bother uploading another version. Fine as is.
