Needs a new race, or a solider of fortune or something like that, can jump onto any map at any time

I think the game really needs a good mix up and more importantly needs to sort the servers out

Huge update incoming for MAG, looks like they have listened to the fans :) Beta test starting this week!

Quote:
What are you going to play and test, you ask? How about the oft-demanded “Clan Deploy” feature that allows clan leaders to choose any game type and queue up to 128 clan members for matches as a team? Sure, that’s a great start but we’re also bringing in a brand-new Skill tree system that improves how our character customization system works — complete with new skills and new abilities. What’s more is that we’re introducing an in-game economy system that allows users to earn “Credit Points” by completing objectives, finishing missions, and killing enemies. They can then spend those points to purchase new weapons and gear.

MAG Beta testers will also have the opportunity to try out our upcoming DLC game-type, “Escalation,” well before it becomes available. The most frenetic MAG game mode yet, Escalation offers three brand-new faction-neutral maps with never-before-seen environments that pit a total of 96 players from all three PMCs against each other simultaneously. For the first time ever, Raven, Valor and SVER will be on a single map going after the same objectives at the same time. It’s complete insanity and a whole lot of fun, and we can’t wait for you to try it out. As an added bonus, we’re including nine all-new weapons that add even more firepower to your already-sweet arsenal as well.

Tell you what, I loved the beta of MAG back in pre release but then nobody I knew bought it and even on forums it seemed like nobody realy cared while I was too busy playing other stuff to care myself, however now that I've no interest whatsoever in the COD franchise and the only decent thing on the FPS front that's due for rest of the year is the Vietnam dlc for Battlefield I'm seriously considering picking up MAG now but is it realy worth it from a 'team up with friend list people' point of view? Nothing annoys me more than constantly being stuck with randoms who don't work together in games that are based on teamwork so without wanting to put pressure on anyone if I did pick it up would I have some of you guys to play with on a semi regular/regular basis?

As for charging for more character slots that seems a bit harsh but Metal Gear Online did the same and in that they cost three pounds so I suppose it's nice of Zipper to not try completely fleecing us if they're just a quid when the UK price is announced and it probably will be a pound rather than the Sterling equivilant of a Dollar

Ive just maxed out S.V.E.R and frankly I wished I hadnt.I went RAVEN due to the guns.
So far ive had to contend with the horrible, brash purple colour of the display.
I miss S.V.E.R but the idea of doing another 45 hours with this game make me want to trade it.

I was browsing my local game shops last Friday and saw this for a tenner so figured it was worth atleast checking out and despite realy liking the beta back from 2009 when I first loaded this up and started playing I started to regret my purchase. It sure doesn't do MAG any favours that I'm playing it off the back of Bad Company 2 which has far superior visuals and sound and considering that MAGs been out for around six months now there's still a surprising amount of people just running around pretty aimlessly not realy doing the objectives that they're supposed to do and not realy working together as a team, even failing to use their medic skills on fallen comrades most of the time. The shooting itself's alright but the overall experience was realy nothing worth writing home about

Then it all changed.

By chance I got put into a squad where I was alongside a clan who did play it properly and all of a sudden it switched from being what seemed like a fairly pointless excercise into something realy special. I'm always skeptical when people say 'Well you realy need a good team in order to enjoy this game' or 'You need to learn it first before you'll enjoy it' but I got talking to those guys, joined their clan and now for three nights in a row I've had realy good sessions on the game just playing with them. So I'm realy enjoying it now, level 54 S.V.E.R.

I had a quick shot on this new beta aswell and the skill tree, currency and maps all seem realy good. Infact, one of the maps inparticular (I think it's called Isla de 'something') is one of the best designed FPS maps I think I've ever come across. That whole 'Buy a new character slot' thing is realy terrible though. It turns out that rather than actually buying a slot you're just renting it for 30 days. Hmmmmm

If anyone else sees it for a tenner and they like shooters then I would definatly recommend it at that price but anything more and it might not be worth the risk as I think you realy do need to get a good team together to get the most out of it
